Spring Maintenance – Where to begin?

Spring maintenance is back, the lists are endless, and the retirement budget is ready for a challenge. Will this season feel different

Spring Maintenance – Where to begin?
March 2026 – Lists, lists and more lists….  Lets see how the retirement budget holds up!

The spring maintenance season is upon us. I’ve been through this ritual many times before, but this year feels a little different. I’m not sure if it’s the length of the to-do list, or the fact that for the first time I’ll actually have the time to tackle it without a 9-to-5 job getting in the way.

It could also be the size of the fleet. Between the trawler, the lobster boat, and a couple of smaller vessels that always seem to require attention there’s no shortage of projects waiting. Engines need summerizing, paint needs touching up, especially on the Claire Elise, There’s some electrical work, hydraulic work and how can we forget all that teak on Kokomo! Claire Elise is getting a new trap fence and Kokomo is getting a new fresh water pump.

Like it or not, the season has begun. And with it comes the familiar mix of anticipation, hard work, and the quiet promise that all this effort eventually leads to the first calm day on the water.
